Who is Alex Weehuizen?

Alex brings a wealth of experience and heartfelt dedication to the world of early childhood education and parenting support. With over 20 years of working alongside families, her journey began as a nanny, where she spent five years building strong, personal connections with children and their whānau. Inspired to deepen her impact, Alex earned her Bachelor of Education (ECE) in 2008, embarking on a career as an early childhood teacher.

As she walked alongside countless families, Alex discovered her true passion: empowering parents on their unique parenting journeys. In 2020, she followed this calling to become a Parenting Mentor, offering guidance and encouragement to parents navigating the joys and challenges of raising tamariki.

Alex’s dedication to supporting families doesn’t stop there. She is a certified Postpartum Doula and a registered facilitator for the Circle of Security Parenting and Classroom Approach. In her commitment to continual learning, she recently became a certified Motherhood Studies Practitioner and is currently training to become a Holistic Sleep Coach.

In 2021, Alex founded Precious Beginnings, a 10-week postpartum and parenting program that has already enriched the lives of over 200 parents. Through this program, she helps families lay strong foundations for their tamariki during those tender, formative months.

Alex believes that the early experiences of tamariki are the bedrock of their lifelong growth and development. Whether she’s collaborating with kaiako or supporting whānau, her approach is rooted in the values of attuned, respectful, and responsive care. For Alex, it’s not just about teaching or mentoring—it’s about nurturing a brighter future for tamariki and their families, one meaningful connection at a time.
